Lapis Lazuli with Turquoise Pendant

Description: Lapis is characterized by its deep blue color with flecks of golden pyrite and white quartz.  When I think of lapis, I am reminded of a deep blue sky with tiny golden stars.  Lapis Lazuli is such an intense blue that it is ground into dust and added to a binder to produce a paint color known as ultramarine.

This particular material is just amazing.  It is the color that makes lapis lazuli so famously breathtaking.  This quality of Lapis is generally found in Afghanistan.  I have only re-cut a few pieces, but the deep blue color goes all the way through the rock.  It's pure.  In admiration for Egyptian art, I have paired it with a small bead of Persian turquoise.

Third Eye Chakra Information for Lapis Lazuli and Persian Turquoise Pendant
In the chakra philosophy, we have two eyes that look out at the world and a third eye that sees within, hence the chakra located in the center of the forehead is called the third eye chakra.  Functions in this chakra include insight, mental focus, intuition and memory.  This is where our imagination lives.  Having eyes in the back of your head, being a visionary, or having a sixth sense are common statements that pertain to the third eye chakra.  From this chakra, we can see the world as an observer.  If you've ever sat in a crowd and found yourself "people watching", you were engaging with your third eye chakra.  By being able to side step the drama of a situation and simply observe, you are able to "see" what's going on at a deeper level.  When we stop worrying about how others "see" us, we are free to follow our intuition in the quest to finding greater purpose in life.
